Privacy Policy
Effective date: 27 October 2026 · Last updated: 27 October 2026
YeahBut ("we", "us") is an interactive 18+ mindset game made in Bengaluru, Karnataka, India. We built it local-first: the thoughts you say or type stay on your phone. This policy says what is stored where, what is optional, and how to erase it. This website uses no cookies, no analytics and no third-party requests.
1. 18+ only
YeahBut is for adults aged 18 or older. You confirm this before using the app, and we do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18. If you think a minor has given us data, email privacy@yeahbut.app and we will delete it.
2. What stays on your phone
- Voice and speech. In voice mode, speech is turned into text on your phone by your device's on-device speech recognition. If that is not available, voice mode is switched off and you can type instead. The recording is played back only after the text passes the safety check, and is then deleted. It is never uploaded.
- Thoughts and history. Typed or spoken thoughts (up to 150 characters), your chosen counter-moves, streaks and unlocked props are stored only on your device.
- Safety check. Before any sound plays, the text is checked on your device. If it looks like a crisis (for example self-harm, abuse or an eating disorder), nothing is played, the text is discarded and not saved anywhere, and the app shows helplines.
3. What is shared, and with whom
- Purchases. If you buy YeahBut Pro, Google Play processes the payment and RevenueCat (our purchase service provider) records the purchase against an anonymous app user ID so we can unlock Pro. We do not see your card details.
- Analytics (optional, off by default). Only if you switch it on, the app sends anonymous usage counts (such as "app opened" or "battle started") to PostHog (EU region). These never include your thoughts, transcripts, audio, name, email or advertising ID. You can switch it off at any time in Privacy & Science.
- Cloud voices (not in this version). A future Pro option may send an unflagged thought to a text-to-speech provider to make a voice clip. It would need your explicit consent and have an off switch, and we will update this policy before it is turned on.
We do not sell your data, show ads, or use advertising identifiers.
4. Security
Network traffic uses HTTPS. Data on your phone sits in the app's private storage, protected by your device's built-in encryption.
5. Your rights and deleting your data
You can access, correct, withdraw consent for, or erase your data. In the app, open Privacy & Science and tap Delete Data. Everything stored on your phone is erased immediately. If you used a cloud account, its records are deleted within 7 days. Google Play and RevenueCat may keep anonymised purchase receipts as required by tax and accounting laws, and deleting data does not cancel a subscription: cancel it in Google Play settings.
If you already uninstalled the app, see how to request deletion.
6. International transfers
We are based in India. If you opt in to analytics or buy Pro, limited technical data may be processed by our providers (RevenueCat, PostHog, Supabase) on servers in the EU, US or India under standard data protection terms.
7. Changes
If we change this policy in a meaningful way we will update the date above and, where required, ask for your consent again.
8. Contact and grievances
Grievance and Privacy contact: privacy@yeahbut.app, Bengaluru, Karnataka, India. We acknowledge requests within 48 hours.
